Roles & Permissions

Voxifi uses role-based access control (RBAC) to manage what team members can do within your organization.

Available Roles

Owner

The organization creator with full administrative access.

Key characteristics:

  • Exactly one per organization
  • Full access to all features including billing
  • Can transfer ownership by promoting another member to Owner
  • Can delete the organization

Admin

Full platform access without billing or organization deletion capabilities.

Key characteristics:

  • Unlimited number per organization
  • Can invite new team members
  • Access to all platform features
  • Cannot manage roles, remove members, or access billing

Member

Standard user access for day-to-day platform use.

Key characteristics:

  • Unlimited number per organization
  • Can use all core features
  • Cannot manage team or settings
  • Ideal for most team members

Changing Roles

Who Can Change Roles

Only the Owner can change member roles.

How to Change a Role

  1. Go to Users
  2. Find the team member
  3. Click the ... menu
  4. Select Change Role
  5. Choose the new role
  6. Confirm the change

Owner Transfer

Promoting someone to Owner transfers full ownership. There can only be one Owner per organization. You will be demoted to Admin in the process.

Security Recommendations

  1. Minimize Admins - Only give Admin access when necessary
  2. Regular Review - Periodically review team member roles
  3. Prompt Removal - Remove access when people leave
  4. Audit Logs - Monitor the audit trail for unusual activity

Troubleshooting

"Cannot Change Role"

Possible reasons:

  • You're not the Owner (role changes are Owner-only)
  • Trying to change your own role (not allowed)
  • Trying to demote the last Owner (not allowed)

"Permission Denied"

The action requires a higher role:

  • Check the permission matrix above
  • Request the action from the Owner
